The Sunburst Convex Mirror

The latest creation to emerge from the Antique Mirror Glass studio is this stunning Sunburst Convex Mirror. Peter has been carefully planning to create something unique with a fabulous piece of convex glass he had bought. The opportunity finally arose over Easter when got the chance to put months of creative ideas together with some new equipment we have here in the Byron Bay workshop.

We have recently purchased a new piece of machinery which allows us to bend our steel to make curved frames. After a few twisted pieces hit the floor in the workshop Peter and Mike achieved the result they wanted and created a small number of perfect circular black steel frames to be used in special projects.

Circular Frames- Ready to be filled with some beautiful Antique Mirror Glass Unique Pieces

The Convex piece of glass was given a custom antique finish, then framed with 7 specially cut curved pieces of Antique Mirror Glass.

The brass flowers and squares were added by hand, then finished with the tiny green glass beads. the piece was set onto on of our handmade backboards and given its black shadowline steel curved frame. The finished mirror is around 940mm in diameter.

The Convex mirror, along with the 7 individual pieces in the mirror frame make this an incredibly satisfying piece. The reflections you see, move and change as you view it from different angles and each movement opens up new perspectives.

Peter made this piece because he loves making something out of the ordinary. It takes a lot of time and skill, but the result has given us all huge enjoyment.

He has agreed he would be willing to sell it….. soon!
